The pair are just two of 32 craft producers participating on the programme, which is funded by eight Leader + groups from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. *

A specialised training and mentoring programme, which is managed by i2, Crafts Today is designed specifically to increase sales and marketing skills in participating companies and to assist them in breaking into new markets throughout Ireland and beyond.

Delivered through a combination of training sessions and one to one mentoring, Crafts Today is focused on securing direct sales opportunities for businesses. In addition to structured activities, participants are also given the opportunity to meet and network with other cross-border crafts companies.

The event which was held in September 2006, gave companies from Northern Ireland and the border counties the opportunity to meet and do business with new customers in Ireland and internationally. i2 was responsible for the overall managemetn of the project which included the recruitment of 150+ buyers from USA, Canada, Spain, France, Poland, Russia, Germany, Austria, UK and Ireland. i2 was also responsible for the recruitment of 200 SME’s from Ireland’s cross border region and all other elements of the event including, promotional materials, PR, web design and management, exhibition display, interpreters and the facilitation of buyer – supplier meetings.

Jennifere Jewellery in Dungloe is just one of 15 companies in Donegal benefiting from an innovative design programme supported by Donegal County Enterprise Board. The programme, which is delivered by i2 Total Marketing in association with Lairdesign and Evason Product Design, helps businesses differentiate their products and services through the use of design.

The programme involves a combination of a design audit, training and mentoring, and is aimed at growing participant’s business through good design.

Jennifere Jewellery is currently going through a re-branding exercise, which has seen the firm modify its name, and will see it re-launch its exciting range of contemporary jewellery products at Showcase and Futura this year. Speaking of the programme, Ann Marie Given, of Jennifere said “The Design Training Programme has been a fantastic opportunity to not only develop our products, but also to develop links with other businesses with a strong interest in design”.
